Not slowing down.

Yikes. Has the summer really come and passed? Not only that but FALL? I promised I would keep updating everyone as I know my family requests these and it has just gotten away from me. Things this summer were so busy, so fun and it really seemed like we were chasing our tails for most of it. We snuck a couple of trips in to the lake so Michael could catch no fish. (Haha sorry babe!) but we had fun trying and our first summer as boat owners was fun! I still think they are a pain in the rear and loathe the unpacking process of camping but I do and am glad we do. My family loved the lake, I spent a lot of time getting lathered up with sunblock and catching craw dads. There is something nostalgic about it for me.. My mom shines through me at dinner time. No rubber hot dogs for us! I generally go all out and we eat like campfire kings! :)

It wasn't all fun and water this summer though. I survived my first wedding season as a photographer! 4 to be exact! That was both fun and overwelming. What a neat job though. To be able to photograph people's most cherished memories.. It is really something I am proud of. Now I have really lost my mind because I have 7, yes SEVEN weddings booked next summer. A few in Bozeman, as well as Glendive & Billings. When I am not working them, we will be attending some of our friend's weddings and I am so excited to do that because it will be a little break.. It doesn't mean I'll be leaving my camera at home though. Can't help myself!

I have been so lucky to find this niche of mine. It has been rewarding, a creative outlet and has also brought some income in which is always nice. Gas for that boat isn't cheap! ;) I am loving what I do and am so excited to keep building it. This summer I was also able to be a part of the Fishin' For The Cure board which we do annually to help raise money for children with cancer as well as the 2nd Annual Color Run board. We decided to give proceeds from that to a local cancer fund. Recently, I joined the Chamber Board which is made up of nine individuals, including me. It has already brought some fun into our lives! Michael and I served up paddlefish caviar for one of the events, decorated the chambers float for the annual light parade and lastly, Michael finally grew up to be something very special, Santa Claus. The things my husband does for me! It is safe to say that when I joined the Chamber, so did he!

Speaking of Michael, he is doing well, still liking his job as an electrician at the railroad. He is actually coming up on his 3rd year already which is so hard to believe. What a transition it was from Billings to Glendive, for both of us! Yes it is Michael's hometown but we were pretty settled in Billings and very much enjoyed our dining options. Ha!

Now on to the star of the show. Miss P. She is just growing up so quick. Mike and I were in a pretty competitive game of basketball this evening (where we both sit on the couch, make P fetch the balls & bring them to us so we can have a shoot out with toddler hoop that she insists stays in the living room). It was then that we noticed just how big she's getting. She decided dad generally makes more baskets (yes I'm admitting it, settle down Mike!) and would bypass me and give the ball straight to him. All while yelling "go dad-o!" Yes, if you have not been around her in the past 6ish months, you don't know that Mike's name has unintentionally become "dad-o". She has quite the vocabulary these days though. Her favorites being "puppy, baby, and NOOO" we cringe every time a stranger comes up and so sweetly says "hi, well aren't you so pretty?" And she looks at them with a scrunched up grin and shreiks "NOOoo" usually followed by "hiiiiii"... It is a little odd but seems to work for her as most people smile and tell me "oh gosh, it's ok, she's so cute!" as they see the disapproval on my face. We are hoping for less "no" and more sweet but we'll see as we are realizing she is pretty stubborn.

She is lucky to have had a playmate for the past 3 months! Our little buddy Maddex comes over 3 days a week to cure some of her only child syndrome while his mama goes to nursing school. This arrangement really couldn't have worked out better. Being Rachel's friend ,
I was so excited when she asked me to do this. I wasn't looking to get into the babysitting business by anymeans but this is such a small amount of time that it has kept it fun and has been really great for P. She just treats him like a little brother. Protective, loves to give him kisses and then he tries to take a swig of her juice and she looks at him and says "Nooooo". We sure love him!

Speaking of babies "NOOOOO"

Just no. I mean if you ask Mike, yes. But I am at a firm no. We are so busy and with my schedule next summer, it just isn't happening. I can see my familie's heads shaking in disapproval! Ha! Maybe next year!

Back to P.. She was a kitty for Halloween!

Our Thanksgiving was spent in Glendive and due to roads/work schedules my brother and dad were not able to make it as planned. We missed them but we ate our feelings. And P played with her cousins, who she just adores. Especially Gi, it's a girl thing! ;)

We were able to spend a little time with my grandma before Thanksgiving and that was so, so great. She has been battling hard after a bad fall among other health problems. We are hoping she regains some strength by Christmas time when we get to see her next. P is really a light in her life, it means everything to me. We love you gram - keep being strong!

Well there is so much more I could go on about but I can not let my insomnia get the best of me. I have an early morning as my girlfriend and I are taking a girls trip to Billings tomorrow for some Christmas shopping, good food and a much deserved cocktail. I will leave by saying I can't be more thankful for my family. We are so lucky to have each other and each year gets better. This time of year always seems to make you realize how much family means to you and our girl is extremely lucky to have one of the best around! She's pretty happy about it!

Gearing up for 2.

Two years? Already?

Wow, that went by so fast. I remember doing birthday photos last year and it seems like yesterday that Mike was saying "too many balloons, your so crazy!" This year he didn't even try to stop me as I bought out all of the pink balloons from Albertsons. Well, when the gal asked us how many, he said "5 or 6" and I laughed and said "do you have more than 20?"  So I guess he is still not quite on my level, haha!

Last year's birthday photos

This year we were running late, unprepared and forgot that we now have a two year old with a mind of her own. She does just about the opposite of what you ask her to do most of the time. Typical. After I staked the finally balloon to the ground and patted myself on the back for the dreamy set I had just created, reality set in. We had about 10 minutes of sunlight left, a baby ready for bedtime and a stray cat that was trying to get a decent headshot. The photos turned out precious.

There were some bumps in the road though. We took a ton of mosquito bites, Penleope's cooperation was at about zero percent, a bystander felt bad for us and brought over some suckers to bribe P with (THANK GOODNESS) and we came to the realization that the cat was indeed, going to be in most of the pictures. Here is the result.

Expect a birthday card soon!

Guilt Post.

What has happened? My last post was in February.. I've turned into a terrible blogger. But since I start every post apologizing for not posting..let's skip that. Things have been crazy. We literally had to buy one of those ginormous calendars to keep track of work, vacation & big events. The "stay at home mom" title has been thrown out of the window and it seems I am constantly on the go. Michael took his electrician test (a recent option that wasn't previously available) and passed (Whooo hoo!) so he is officially an electrician for BNSF rather than continuing his 4 year long apprentiship. Things are good. Pen is crazy... Seriously.. She loves slamming doors, screaming, chasing her kitty, spanking us and pooping almost immediately after being freshly bathed. She will be two in one month which apparently means EVERYONE starts asking "when is the next one coming?" Ha! Not for awhile, she is plenty for now! We have a lot of fun with her.. She is getting so independent and silly. She will run right up to Mike and tickle his feet while they hang off the couch and when you tell her it's time to do (basically) anything.. She runs like a little drunk person as fast as she can to her play tent to hide. It truly is amazing how fast she's grown and what a fun, sweet, crazy little person she has become. In February my grandma Helen (Dad's mom) passed away. This was obviously very sad for us but P seemed to be the little ray of sunshine for anyone that needed it. She just has a sweet & wise soul. I'm so happy my grandma was able to meet her. While we spent our time in Havre it was so much fun to see my dad's side, a bunch of joke-sters. We made the best out of a sad situation and I know that's what grandma would have wanted.

March will go down as Michael's biggest accomplishment month; we bought a boat. In April we went to Kansas City with Michael for work. We were able to see our friends Ryan, Chelsea, Cole & their newest little family member Bradley. Seeing them as a family of 4 was really cool, they are doing great! It made me think of how P would make such a good big sister... But won't be for awhile because I'm not that brave, yet.

Now we are at May.. (Let's just pretend there's not only 3 days to June). My dad & brother surprised us and showed up to Glendive for a few days, seriously the best surprise ever. Other than that, nothing too exciting going on this month, on Saturday I will spend the day taking pictures of kiddos with my newly constructed lemonade stand at a big vendor show. It is so cute, thanks to Mike and his dad! Next week I'm going on a girls trip to Denver to see Luke Bryan & Florida Georgia Line on tour. My dad will be coming to help Michael with P (he is really such a wonderful dad & grandpa). I often wonder what the heck we would do without him. We are just lucky on both sides, Pen visits Dick & Nancy about every other day it seems and they always help when I work. She is blessed with some awesome grandparents! Anywho, my goal on the girls trip is to stay up past 10 and try not to spend the majority of my time watching the cameras back at home. A break will be good..... Right?

Remembering grandma Ross.

2015 thus far!

My updates have been lacking lately. It's pretty awful of me because I know so many of you like to check in on us via my blog. As most of you know, this past summer I started this "tiny" little dream of  mine that just so happens to be filling my days, which have turned into weeks and now I have bookings all the way through September! It's pretty amazing, I almost feel like I can call myself a photographer now! I have truly been loving every minute of it! Pen is adjusting to not always having my full attention and Michael has cut back on his overtime at work to be able to entertain her while I, dare I say, work?! It's a pretty exciting time in our lives, finally settled into our home, chasing around a sweet and spunky 19 month old and getting ready to file our taxes with the addition of our new business this year! It's been so long since I've been on here so I should share a couple of pictures of Mike's 30th, Christmas and some more recent snaps! Here we go!

I really hate throwing parties...(anyone who knows me, knows that's a joke). So for Mike's 30th birthday I kept it pretty low key....(kidding). I threw him a casino night! It was so much fun with our friends and family! My dad and brother even drove 6 hours round trip to attend! I made little party favor bags with cigars, scratch tickets and little bottles of booze. We played dice and cards and had a great time!

My dad came with gifts, as usual!

The next morning, lounging with her uncle.."uncle puppy" according to Pen.

A fun party for our favorite guy! Now onto Christmas...if I wasn't so lazy I would upload pictures from my camera but there are so many so here we have a couple of phone snaps and then some pictures of my family that I took in billings!

Now onto some more recent times..

Recently my grandpa had heart surgery, we made the trip up for some support, my grandpa was tickled to see miss P. He is doing well.

I have been busy with my Valentine's Day sessions but this has to be my favorite little client of all! She pays in kisses, of course!

Mike couldn't believe how grown up she looked when he saw this picture. I'd have to agree. She is sure getting big! She is saying "baby, kitty, puppy, papa, hey, dada, shoes, yay, please, woof, moo, baaaaaa, meow, raaahhhrrr, duck, ball, tickle and I may be forgetting some! She loves running around chasing her kitty and eating ALL day long. Seriously, we are feeding her, constantly. Haha! Her newest favorite thing to do is read books. I have read to her in the past but now she is very interactive, which is fun! We are enjoying watching her grow and have no plans on adding another anytime soon, which we have been getting asked a ton lately! I love how self sufficient and independent she is becoming and then other times it makes me want to cry but I am mostly loving it!

We hope every one had a great holiday season and I will make it a goal to update more often!
